Sci-fi
After showing a few friends some of my early digital paintings, they said that I should paint some of the classic Sci-Fi characters. At the time I wasn't that well up on classic Sci-Fi so they sent me a few iconic images that would make interesting paintings.
Layers
For this Aliens painting I wanted to experiment with my use of layering. I began by creating a black background layer and painted some of the blue mist directly onto it. Once happy on a separate layer I painted the silhouette of the Alien in black. On a final layer, I then painted blue and white highlights to pick out the features of the Alien.
At the time of painting this, I had not seen any of the Alien films. Now they are part of my growing collection of Sci-fi classics.
